NOTICE OF RACE
Oakville Yacht Squadron, August 10, 11 & 12, 2012
***Racing shall take place off the Oakville pier.***
| 1. | RULES |
| 1.1 | Racing will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. |
| 1.2 | The PHRF rules apply to boats competing in PHRF divisions. One design classes are subject to their class rules. |
| 2. | ADVERTISING |
| 2.1 | The regatta is designated category ‘C ‘ in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.3. |
| 3. | ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY |
| 3.1 | The regatta is open to keelboats owned or chartered by members in good standing of OYS, or any other CYA member club. |
| 3.2 | Boats registered to race in a PHRF division must possess a valid PHRF – LO certificate. Boats registered to race in a one design class must conform to their class rules. |
| 3.3 | One design classes must have a minimum of five boats registered to race to be scored as a one design class. It is recommended that one design boats also have a valid PHRF – LO certificate in the event that fewer than four boats register to race in a one design class. |
| 3.4 | Boat owners must be able to provide proof of third party liability insurance. RC may share insurance information in the event of significant damage. |
| 3.5 | Eligible boats may be entered by completing registration with OYS, by 9.00 am, Saturday August 11, 2012. A signed waiver form must be received by the closing of registration. |
| 3.6 | Late entries will not be accepted. |
| 4. | REGISTRATION AND FEES |
| 4.1 | Boats can pre-register on line at Registration |
| 4.2 | Friday August 10, 2012, 19.00 to 21.30 hrs at OYS Saturday August 11, 2012, 07.30 to 09.00 hrs at OYS |
| 4.3 | Fleet assignments will be posted on the official notice board at OYS approximately 09.30 on Saturday August . |
| 4.4 | Entry fee is $ 50.00, if received by July 31, 2012 and $75.00 thereafter. Lighthouse Challenge is $25.00 |
| 5. | SCHEDULE |
| 5.1 | Five ( 5) races are scheduled, with no more than three ( 3 ) per day. |
| 5.2 | The scheduled time for the first warning signal for the first race on Saturday will be at 11.00a.m. |
| 5.3 | The scheduled time for the first warning signal for the first race on Sunday will be at 10.00a.m. |
| 5.4 | No warning will be made after 12.00. on Sunday. |
| 6. | SKIPPER’S MEETING |
| 6.1 | A skipper’s meeting will be held on the front lawn at 10.00a.m. Saturday. |
| 7. | SAILING INSTRUCTIONS |
| 7.1 | Sailing instructions will be available at OYS registration check on Friday August 10. |
| 8. | SCORING |
| 8.1 | The Low Point system of Appendix A will apply. |
| 8.2 | One race is required to be completed to constitute a regatta. |
| 8.3 | When five ( 5 ) races have been completed, a boats series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst scores. |
| 8.4 | When fewer than five ( 5 ) races have been completed, a boats series score will be the total of the race scores. |
| 9. | PRIZES |
| 9.1 | Awards will be presented for the first, second and third place in each fleet. |
| 9.2 | Awards will be presented to the first, second and third One Design, PHRF boats in FS and NFS divisions. |
| 10. | DISCLAIMERS OF LIABILITY |
| 10.1 | Competitors participating in this regatta are entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. |
| 11. | INSURANCE |
| 11.1 | Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum coverage of two million Canadian dollars ($2,000,000.00). |
