Communication Survey

If you are seeing this page you have just taken the time to complete the December 2010 OYS Communication Survey.

On behalf of the entire OYS Executive committee, I would like to thank you for your time and effort.

Your responses will be carefully reviewed and considered as we develop strategies to enhance your “club”.

Regards

Eli, I have to say that your website revisions to-date have been tremendous! Perhaps some of the reasons why people don’t visit the site very often, or might say that the site is “below average”, is that they are unaware that it is becoming much more informative and interactive. More needs to be done – see Murray’s comment above, but it’s coming along very nicely. One thing that CAN be done is to advertise the website among the members – refer to it in the Windjammer, perhaps in a separate box. Mention it at the Thursday night pub nights and other OYS gatherings. Always have a link to the website in FTD’s. Once people start realizing that the website contains fresh and useful information, there will be more visits. If you build it and advertise it, they will come. As you know, I’ve volunteered to help with communications, so I hope I can be useful in that regard.

Cheers,
Cynthia

Great Survey Eli,

Presenting these to the membership will increase overall participation and leads to a better understanding of the needs and wants of all members. Let us not stop with just this one.
once again, good job!

Excellent survey, we should get good info and direction from it. With regard to FTD’s, most would be OK for a weekly release but some need to be sent out immediately (eg reminders, special issues etc). Can a weekly and a “When Needed” system co-exist?

The biographical data (member type, age etc) should provide you with info to “weigh” the responses for your system/process re-design.

Hello Dirk, thx for your feedback. Yes there is really no problem with with respect to the From the Docks system co-existing with a weekly newsletter.
All the best…Eli

Hi Eli,
One quick comment on the website – in my opimion, the key is not the layout but the content. Everything on the website should be current and up-to-date. As an example – if you go on the calendar today, there is nothing showing for any activities in the month of December – even though there are a number of ongoing eventd on Thursday nights and the Commodore’s Christmas reception on Saturday. We need to keep things up-to-date if we want people to refer to the website for information.
Cheers
Mur
