The Oakville Yacht Squadron (OYS) is a club dedicated to the education and exploration of sailing, incorporating the benefits of both racing and cruising.  We pride ourselves on our friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Oakville Yacht Squadron was founded in 1946 by a group of competitive racers interested in racing Snipe class dinghies.  OYS was originally located downtown Oakville across Sixteen-Mile creek from the current building; although club facilities were limited.  Years later OYS moved to the West side of the river to establish a more permanent clubhouse and the members upgraded to larger boats.  OYS members kept a strong focus on racing but cruising recently became an interest of many of the members.  To date OYS maintains active members involved in both racing and cruising.  Our sailing school has harboured many great sailors at recreational, competitive and Olympic levels.  OYS’ location and events make us a unique sailing club.
